Billing Associate

Overview

RSM is adding a Billing Associate to its Finance team to process billing transactions with assigned primary billers and ensure timely, accurate billing for firm services.

What you'll do

• Initiate the bi-monthly billing process for assigned primary billers, reviewing and recommending billing amounts based on agreed billing arrangements, schedules, statements of work, engagement letters or historical amounts.
• Process billing as appropriate.
• Review aged WIP for assigned primary billers to control outstanding WIP balances and identify billing opportunities.
• Uphold firm client folder best practices, ensuring client and folder data attributes and status are properly managed.
• Hold external client servers accountable to bill timely, escalating to the regional billing lead, supervisor, manager, director or national billing leader if needed.
• Build external client server relationships, learn the clients you work on, and anticipate needs to add value to the billing process.
• Partner with external client servers as true business advisors on all aspects of billing functions.
• Maintain regular, proactive communication with the external client servers or primary billers you support, and seek feedback on your interactions and performance.
• Assist in analyzing, managing and meeting functional leaders' billing goals.
• Understand net-unbilled concepts to make billing recommendations, and understand realization and reserve concepts and their impact.
• Facilitate recommendations that promote firm best practices.
• Leverage firm standardized reporting to assist primary billers in analysis and engagement management.
• Independently investigate billing issues and process invoice adjustments to ensure invoice and margin accuracy.

What you'll need

• Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
• Graduate in B.com or Business management.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with diverse audiences.
• Detail oriented.

Nice to have

• Strong Excel skills.
• Prior professional billing experience, with a focus on billing for professional services firms (heavily preferred).
