Overview
Build, evaluate, and deploy bioinformatics and AI systems that support biomarker discovery, translational research, and clinical development. The individual contributor role combines bioinformatics, machine learning, and software engineering across biomedical data.
What you'll do
- Develop foundation-model applications for genomic, multi-omics, imaging, and clinical data.
- Adapt and evaluate biological foundation models, protein and sequence models, multimodal models, and large language models.
- Build reproducible workflows for data curation, model adaptation, evaluation, and monitored deployment.
- Engineer pipelines for harmonizing multi-omics and clinical datasets with provenance and quality controls.
- Define benchmarks for biological relevance, robustness, bias, uncertainty, hallucination risk, and reproducibility.
- Develop production-ready services and interfaces using cloud and GPU infrastructure.
- Produce technical documentation, model cards, evaluation reports, and methods descriptions.
What you'll need
- Master’s or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, machine learning, statistics, genetics/genomics, or a related discipline.
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience building bioinformatics, machine learning, data science, or research software solutions.
- Strong Python programming and software engineering practices, including Git, testing, code review, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Hands-on expertise with deep learning, foundation models, transformers, self-supervised learning, fine-tuning, evaluation, and inference optimization.
- Experience with Hugging Face and AWS SageMaker.
- Experience with reproducible workflows using Nextflow or Snakemake and containers such as Docker or Singularity.
- Experience with cloud and HPC environments, GPU computing, distributed training or inference, and scalable data processing.
Nice to have
- Experience applying AI to biomedical or life-science data.
- Experience in a biomedical, pharmaceutical, or regulated research environment.
