Business Analyst

Overview

Lead business requirements gathering for omni-channel digital banking transformation programs, owning the Business Specification Document (BSD) through to customer sign-off, working as the customer's trusted advisor and proxy product owner.

What you'll do

• Drive specifications to conclusions within a project and obtain sign-off on the Business Specification Document (BSD)
• Work closely with the Engineering Manager so that a working system is delivered to the customer
• Lead complex engagements and create clarity on the full requirements set for the program
• Proactively support the customer in creating and implementing their omni-channel digital banking transformation vision and strategy
• Clearly communicate progress, risks, blockers and dependencies with the core team
• Analyze, capture and prioritize customer requirements, identify product improvements and define best practices
• Manage the process of feature requests and MAINTs (product bug reports) with R&D
• Own end-to-end quality of functional and technical specifications, including alignment of UX and Solution Architecture within the signed-off BSD
• Manage project backlog in Jira accurately, including scope definition and backlog quality
• Manage the change request (CR) process arising from the BSD
• Write and organize user stories, epics, feature requests and MAINTs
• Coach others on formatting and ensure a signed-off BSD/Project Config Sheet
• Use AI meaningfully to speed up the process, including translating AI-generated notes and recordings into specs
• Give demos of the Backbase product
• Manage customer expectations, work closely with customers and lead engaging workshops
• Guide clients on best usage and customization of the product, working with Backbase R&D where customization is needed
• Create BSDs independently
• Define essential requirements for customers within the financial industry context and quantify value of adopt versus build
• Translate customer vision into a sound project backlog and explore out-of-the-box options versus recommended enhancements
• Strategically apply AI tools across complex business analysis initiatives and understand the Agentic SDLC
• Guide the team, act as the customer's proxy product owner and mentor Junior Business Analysts

What you'll need

• 3-7 years of experience in a similar role
• 1+ year of Backbase experience and 3-4 years of banking or financial services experience
• Seen by peers as an expert with deep knowledge of at least one Backbase Line of Business (LOB)
• Expert in creating BSDs, epics, user stories and BE tasks
• Knowledge of the Backbase way of working (delivery hub) and fluent working with the Agentic SDLC
• Expert in Jira, Gemini (or similar LLM), Google Sheets/Slides and workshopping tools such as Miro
• AI as a default way of working
• Bachelor's degree or higher; IIBA CCB certification
• Professional working proficiency in English and the local language
