Coder - Facility IP

Overview

Coder role in Facility IP coding (India), assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs to inpatient patient records.

What you'll do

• Review patient records for accuracy and completeness.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes and DRGs (both MS and APR DRG) in line with regulatory and reimbursement requirements.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to gather accurate documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

What you'll need

• Strong knowledge and experience in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems.
• Proficiency in assigning DRGs (both MS and APR DRG) and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Minimum 1+ years of experience in IP DRG coding specialty.
• Mandatory certifications such as CIC, CCS, or CPC.
• Must be a graduate.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing patient records.
• Good communication and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with clinical staff.
• Familiarity with EHR systems and coding software.
• Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in MS Office/Excel.
• Experience in coding software or encoder (3M, Trucode, Optum).
• Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC, Cerner, etc.).
