Componenet & Obsolescence Engineer

Overview

Component & Obsolescence Engineer responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks from component obsolescence in Thales products.

What you'll do

• Monitor the lifecycle of components and forecast potential obsolescence issues.
• Implement strategies to mitigate component obsolescence risks to ensure availability of critical components.
• Proactively manage and mitigate risks related to component obsolescence.
• Validate selected components on project work and provide feedback.
• Perform BOM scrub activities, including analysis of bills of materials, proactive scrubbing, and risk assessment.
• Analyze obsolescence notifications (PDNs, PCNs, obsolescence alerts) and propose alternates when needed.
• Continuously monitor alerts and update tracking/reporting into the component database.

What you'll need

• 2-4 years of experience in obsolescence management.
• Skills in BOM and part obsolescence monitoring.
• Experience working with PLM tools such as Wind-chill, PALMA, or Teamcenter.
• Parts/component database management expertise.
• PDN/PCN processing expertise.
• Experience processing provider data from tools such as Silicon Expert, IHS Markit, and Total Parts Plus.
• Ability to find alternate components for electrical/electronic, mechanical, and software solutions to mitigate obsolescence.
