Job description

Overview

Lead the technical direction, architecture, development, testing, maintenance, and delivery of custom Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation solutions. Develop and optimize Discrete Event Simulation models for manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, intralogistics, and material-handling applications.

What you'll do

  • Develop, enhance, test, and maintain Discrete Event Simulation models using Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation and SimTalk.
  • Translate manufacturing and business requirements into simulation models, process logic, objects, parameters, and simulation scenarios.
  • Develop detailed models for manufacturing plants, production lines, assembly operations, warehouses, intralogistics, and material-flow systems.
  • Model manufacturing processes including BIW, paint, trim and final assembly, EV/battery manufacturing, buffers, sequencing, downtime, rework, and quality constraints.
  • Develop simulation logic for AGVs/AMRs, conveyors, forklifts, tugger trains, ASRS, warehouse automation, and material-handling systems.
  • Develop and maintain custom objects, class libraries, reusable components, templates, and parameterized simulation models.
  • Implement SimTalk scripts and simulation logic for process control, material flow, resource allocation, routing, sequencing, and system behaviour.
  • Perform capacity, throughput, bottleneck, line balancing, WIP, cycle-time, resource utilization, and OEE-related analysis.
  • Configure and execute experiments, what-if scenarios, sensitivity analysis, and simulation optimization studies.
  • Perform model verification and validation using historical data, process information, stakeholder feedback, and defined acceptance criteria.
  • Analyse simulation results and generate reports, dashboards, visualizations, and actionable recommendations.
  • Integrate simulation models with MES, WMS, ERP, IoT, Digital Twin, and other manufacturing data sources where required.
  • Develop data interfaces and support data preparation, mapping, transformation, and validation for simulation models.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve model logic, performance, data, integration, and simulation execution issues.
  • Perform code and model reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, performance, and adherence to modelling standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation, model specifications, test cases, validation results, and user guides.
  • Conduct unit, functional, regression, and performance testing of simulation models and components.
  • Collaborate with functional teams, manufacturing engineers, data engineers, and client stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Support PoCs, feasibility studies, technical demonstrations, workshops, and simulation model deployments.
  • Mentor junior simulation developers on Plant Simulation, SimTalk, modelling practices, debugging, and development standards.
  • Contribute to reusable simulation frameworks, accelerators, libraries, coding standards, and best practices.

What you'll need

  • Minimum 7.5 year(s) of experience.
  • 9+ years of overall experience with strong hands-on experience in Plant Simulation, SimTalk, DES, manufacturing simulation, or related simulation development.
  • 15 years full time education.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Automation, Production Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation.
  • Strong programming experience in SimTalk, including object-oriented modelling, methods, classes, interfaces, and reusable components.
  • Strong understanding of Discrete Event Simulation and manufacturing simulation concepts.
  • Experience developing simulation models for production, assembly, material handling, logistics, warehousing, and intralogistics.
  • Experience with Plant Simulation 3D modelling, object configuration, material flow, resources, buffers, conveyors, transporters, workers, and control logic.
  • Experience with AGV/AMR, ASRS, conveyors, sortation, picking, kitting, replenishment, and warehouse automation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, capacity, throughput, bottlenecks, WIP, cycle time, takt time, downtime, changeovers, and resource utilization.
  • Experience with simulation experiments, statistical analysis, distribution fitting, warm-up analysis, confidence intervals, sensitivity analysis, and optimization.
  • Experience integrating simulation models with MES/WMS/ERP systems, databases, APIs, IoT platforms, and manufacturing data sources.
  • Strong understanding of software development practices, debugging, testing, version control, Git, Jira/Azure DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex simulation and software issues.
  • Good communication, documentation, collaboration, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently on complex development tasks and collaborate effectively with global/distributed teams.
  • Strong ownership, analytical thinking, structured problem solving, attention to detail, coding discipline, and ability to deliver high-quality simulation software/models.
  • Domain experience in automotive, EV/battery manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, intralogistics, material handling, and digital manufacturing.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including manufacturing engineers, industrial engineers, data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Programming/data-processing experience using Python, Java, C#, SQL, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and visualization libraries.
  • Knowledge of Digital Twin, Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, OPC-UA, MQTT, and real-time data integration.
  • Exposure to Siemens Opcenter, SAP ME/EWM, Teamcenter, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, or similar manufacturing/enterprise platforms.
