Customer Engineer

Overview

Customer Engineer owns the pre-sales technical journey for Mixpanel and runs discovery, demos, and POCs to establish technical fit and fit Mixpanel to prospect outcomes.

You also return post-sale to support cross-sell and expansion that needs new technical evaluation.

What you'll do

• Lead technical discovery to qualify the prospect’s business challenges, technical environment, and readiness for a POC.
• Design and deliver tailored demos connecting Mixpanel capabilities to prospect business outcomes.
• Establish technical fit by confirming the prospect’s stack match and scoping meaningful proof requirements.
• Run structured POCs with defined success criteria, a named focus metric, and an execution-ready handoff package.
• Handle post-sale cross-sell and strategic expansion requiring new technical evaluation.
• Partner with Account Executives on deal strategy, technical objection handling, and expansion planning.
• Stay close to Delivery Engineers so POCs reflect production realities and support smooth handoff.

What you'll need

• 3–5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a technical pre-sales role at a B2B SaaS company.
• Technical foundation in data analytics, event tracking, APIs, data warehouses, or adjacent domains.
• Commercial instinct to win deals and orient work accordingly.
• Demonstrated ability to run structured POCs with defined success criteria and measurable outcomes.
• Clear communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Competitive knowledge of the analytics landscape, or ability to build it quickly.
