Customer Engineer

Overview

Customer Engineer owns the pre-sales technical journey for Mixpanel, from discovery and technical fit assessment through demos and POCs, and returns post-sale for expansion requiring new technical evaluation.

What you'll do

• Lead technical discovery to establish prospect business challenges, technical environment, and qualification before a POC.
• Design and deliver tailored, research-backed demos aligned to prospect business outcomes.
• Establish technical fit by confirming stack match and scoping a meaningful proof before the POC begins.
• Run POCs with defined success criteria, a named focus metric, and a handoff package for Delivery Engineers.
• Return post-sale to support cross-sell and strategic expansion requiring new technical evaluation.
• Partner with Account Executives on deal strategy, technical objection handling, and expansion planning.
• Stay close to Delivery Engineers so POCs reflect production realities.

What you'll need

• 3–5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or technical pre-sales at a B2B SaaS company.
• Technical foundation in data analytics, event tracking, APIs, data warehouses, or adjacent domains.
• Commercial instinct to win deals and orient work accordingly.
• Ability to run structured POCs with defined success criteria and measurable outcomes.
• Clear communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Competitive knowledge of the analytics landscape, or ability to build it quickly.
