Overview
Customer Engineer (CE) is a quota-carrying technical role responsible for the technical relationship with customers from discovery through long-term adoption, renewal, and expansion.
What you'll do
- Lead technical discovery with Account Executives and build bespoke architectures.
- Deliver product demonstrations and Proof of Concepts (PoCs) across Security, Networking, and Developer Platforms.
- Provide trusted technical advisory across the customer lifecycle, from onboarding through maturity, renewal, and expansion.
- Ensure long-term technical alignment between customer business goals and the product roadmap.
- Drive commercially accountable platform adoption, retention, and identify cross-sell/upsell opportunities using product usage data.
- Run technical Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to demonstrate return on investment for C-level executives.
- Use AI agents and internal platforms to automate routine tasks (e.g., RFP/Security Questionnaire responses, sandbox provisioning, basic telemetry monitoring).
What you'll need
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineering.
- Broad technical expertise including web security, networking (routing, DNS, DDoS mitigation), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.
- Experience operating in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment with SaaS metrics and enterprise sales cycles.
- Exceptional presentation and stakeholder management skills to connect technical details with C-suite strategy.
- Hands-on experience building, deploying, or architecting solutions using Cloudflare’s developer platform and AI ecosystem (Workers AI and AI Gateway).
- Experience with prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages for custom integration scripts, API connectors, and edge computing functions.
