Customer Journey - Software Engineer - AVP

Overview

Lead the design, development and delivery of secure, scalable and resilient customer journey applications as an AVP Software Engineer, combining hands-on engineering with technical oversight and project delivery ownership on key web technologies.

What you'll do

• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks and tools.
• Ensure code is scalable, maintainable and optimized for performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
• Collaborate with peers, participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to organizational technology communities.
• Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability and reliability.
• Lead the design, development and support of secure, scalable and high-performing applications.
• Be hands-on in software engineering activities, including coding, solution design, code reviews, architecture governance, troubleshooting and technical delivery.
• Define and implement engineering standards, patterns and development best practices.
• Drive adoption of modern CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security controls and release automation.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owner, Solution Architect, Security, Platform and QA teams to deliver integrated digital solutions.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security, risk, governance and regulatory requirements.
• Guide architectural discussions and ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure and aligned to engineering standards.
• Provide technical leadership across technologies such as PING ID, Java, JavaScript, API, Docker, Google Cloud and secure code engineering.
• Mentor and coach the team on career development through feedback, technical assistance, performance management and development planning.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and team growth initiatives.
• Champion DevSecOps practices, observability, reliability engineering and operational excellence.
• Promote knowledge sharing through code reviews, technical discussions, pairing sessions and documentation.
• Balance technical excellence with delivery commitments and business outcomes.

What you'll need

• Ability to design, build, test and operate production services using technologies such as React, JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML, CSS, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to design web solutions catering to accessibility and responsive requirements.
• Component development using Node-based build tooling.
• Supporting end-to-end testing.
• Ability to use AI engineering tools to accelerate research, code understanding, prototyping, implementation and documentation while applying sound engineering judgment.
• Experience building production services, distributed systems or shared platform capabilities.
• Experience working with APIs, RESTful services, integration contracts and data or domain models.
• Experience with authentication, authorization and identity management.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly, collaborate across teams and time zones, and support other engineers through feedback and knowledge sharing.
• DevOps skillsets: GitLab, Terraform, Ansible, Datadog, containers and Helm.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, dependency management and maintainable code design.

Nice to have

• Some other highly valued skills may include experience with PING ID, Java, JavaScript, API, Docker, Google Cloud and secure code engineering.
