Data Analyst, Finance and Payments

Overview

Data Analyst for Handshake’s Finance and Payments/central operations, building reporting, analytics, and data infrastructure to support financial and operational decision-making.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain scalable dashboards and reporting for finance and operations metrics.
• Develop automated data pipelines bringing together financial, operational, and business system data.
• Automate financial reporting and recurring deliverables to reduce manual effort.
• Partner with Payment Operations on analytics for payment volumes, accuracy, exceptions, disputes, and processing performance.
• Develop automated reconciliations and controls to detect payment issues.
• Investigate and help resolve payment discrepancies using data analysis.
• Translate business questions into data models, dashboards, and actionable analyses.

What you'll need

• 3–6+ years of experience in data analytics/analytics engineering/data engineering/financial analytics or related fields.
• Experience building scalable finance and operations dashboards and reporting across key financial/operational metrics.
• Ability to develop automated data pipelines across multiple systems.
• Experience with Python or another analytical programming language.

Nice to have

• Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
• Dashboard/reporting experience with tools such as Hex, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Familiarity with data warehouses and transformation tools such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data quality, reconciliation, and automation.
• Experience working with Finance teams strongly preferred.
