Overview
The Data Analyst is a developing professional role focused on monitoring, assessing, analyzing and evaluating processes and data. The role applies SAS and SQL expertise to data extraction, quality assessment, reporting, dashboard development and analytical solutions.
What you'll do
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries and SAS scripts/macros to extract, transform, and aggregate datasets from relational databases and enterprise data lakes.
- Conduct data analysis, data reconciliation, validation, and quality assessments across multifaceted financial and transactional datasets.
- Perform root cause analysis for data discrepancies.
- Collaborate with upstream/downstream data owners to implement robust resolutions.
- Translate business requirements and ad-hoc analytics requests from stakeholders into clean, interpretable, and high-impact data deliverables.
- Streamline manual reporting cadences to tools like Tableau.
- Leverage modern AI productivity tools and workflows, such as AI-assisted code generation, data exploration, automated documentation and process automation, to enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify policy gaps and formulate policies.
- Interpret data and make recommendations.
- Research and interpret factual information.
- Identify inconsistencies in data or results, define business issues and formulate recommendations on policies, procedures or practices.
What you'll need
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on professional experience in data analysis, reporting, and database programming.
- Intermediary to advance proficiency in Base SAS, SAS Macros, PROC SQL, and data step processing.
- Strong hands-on SQL querying experience, including complex joins, subqueries, analytical window functions, indexing, and query optimization across enterprise RDBMS.
- Basics of Python/Spark and understanding of HIVE.
- Good problem-solving, critical thinking, and structured analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to dissect complex data logic and design elegant, maintainable analytical solutions.
Nice to have
- Direct hands-on experience developing reports and visual dashboards in at least one enterprise reporting platform, such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, MicroStrategy, or SAP BusinessObjects.
- Understanding of banking, financial services operations, and core financial metrics.
- An idea or exposure to leveraging modern AI productivity tools and workflows, such as AI-assisted code generation, data exploration, automated documentation and process automation, to enhance operational efficiency.
