Data Engineer

Overview

As a Data Engineering intern, you’ll turn messy real-world data into reliable foundations through hands-on projects and classes.

What you'll do

• Transform and ingest data in order to support research and trading foundations.
• Write Python, SQL, and OCaml code for data processing.
• Use open-source tools and proprietary software to work with structured and unstructured data.
• Monitor data quality and build code to support ongoing quality checks.
• Take on two real projects, including exploring unfamiliar datasets and explaining findings.
• Investigate parts of datasets that don’t make sense and document conclusions.

What you'll need

• Comfortable manipulating data using Python, SQL, R, or similar tools.
• Ability to turn an idea into working code.
• Analytical and logical thinking to investigate new problems and ask good questions.
• Curiosity about what data means, not only how to move it.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Humble, eager attitude to ask questions, admit mistakes, and learn.
• Courteous, reliable, and organized working style.
