Data Engineer

Overview

TEGNA is hiring a Data Engineer to build and manage scalable, performant data pipelines and systems for data integration, transformation, and real-time streaming.

What you’ll do

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, scalable data pipelines for data integration and transformation.
• Manage relational and NoSQL databases to support and optimize large datasets.
• Use Apache Spark for distributed data processing and real-time analytics.
• Implement and manage Kafka for data streaming and real-time system integration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Monitor and optimize pipeline and architecture performance for high availability and reliability.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across systems.

What you’ll need

• 5-8 years of experience in data engineering focused on building and managing data pipelines.
• Proficiency in relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Experience building pipelines with data warehouses like Snowflake and Redshift.
• Experience processing unstructured data stored from S3 using Athena and Glue.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka for real-time data streaming and messaging.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for data processing.
