Overview
Data Platform Engineer role on Verifone’s Platform Engineering team, owning and evolving an end-to-end data platform spanning streaming, databases, and infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and optimize end-to-end streaming and batch data pipelines for AI, machine learning, and analytics.
- Work with Kafka streaming and ETL batch processes, including file/table formats like Parquet, Iceberg, and Delta Lake.
- Collaborate to enforce best practices for data flow, schema design, security, scalability, and performance.
- Manage and operate Kafka clusters (including AWS MSK), including Kafka Connect and KSQL.
- Operate production databases including Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
- Develop automation and CI/CD pipelines, including Infrastructure as Code and container orchestration.
- Support observability tooling and participate in on-call incident response.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of overall engineering experience across data pipelines, database operations, and infrastructure.
- Hands-on production experience with Kafka or another distributed streaming platform.
- Operational experience with at least two of: Redis, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redshift, or Snowflake.
- Proven experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT or streaming pipelines for analytics or operational use cases.
- Strong scripting/automation skills in Python and/or Bash to reduce manual toil.
- CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code experience, with Terraform preferred.
- Cloud engineering experience, preferably AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, MSK/ElastiCache, CloudWatch).
