Overview
Run and support IQVIA’s cloud data platforms, Databricks and Snowflake, as a managed service. Maintain platform health, cost control, security, audit readiness and operational support through documented processes, monitoring and escalation paths.
What you'll do
- Process onboarding and offboarding tickets, add or remove users and accounts, reset credentials and permissions, and execute access requests for specific catalogs, schemas, tables or external locations in line with defined controls.
- Triage incidents, check logs for errors, provide first responses to user requests, and escalate when needed with logs, timestamps and reproduction steps.
- Perform daily and weekly checks of platform dashboards to identify runaway queries, oversized clusters and job loop errors.
- Track basic cost and usage signals and help clean up idle or unused resources following established guidance.
- Support the implementation and improvement of the Governance framework and policies.
- Build scripts and automation, policies control and provisioning within the Data Platforms.
- Support FinOps and best practices implementation.
- Update operational documentation and ensure ticket notes are professional, specific and customer-visible as required by support guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge base articles and troubleshooting guides to meet objectives for customer request fulfillment and issue resolution.
What you'll need
- Hands-on familiarity with Databricks and/or Snowflake concepts, including workspaces, jobs, access controls and basic troubleshooting capabilities.
- Comfort working via a ticketing process and documenting actions clearly with status changes, customer updates and evidence trails.
- Strong communication skills and a service mindset.
- Ability to follow standards and ask for escalation early when issues exceed documented resolution paths.
- Databricks skills including platform administration, workspace management, identity and access management (IAM), cluster configuration and Unity Catalog management.
- Snowflake skills including account administration, role-based access control (RBAC), warehouse management, data sharing and security policies.
- Azure Cloud skills including Azure Active Directory (AAD), resource management, cost monitoring, security best practices and Azure DevOps basics.
- AWS Cloud skills including IAM policies, S3 bucket management, cost optimization, security groups and CloudWatch monitoring.
- SQL and data skills including SQL query writing and optimization, database concepts, data warehouse fundamentals and performance tuning.
Nice to have
- Exposure to ITIL practices, including incident management, request management, change management and problem management concepts.
- Interest in moving from reactive support to measurable service delivery with focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure concepts including compute sizing, storage lifecycle and data transfer economics.
- Familiarity with cost governance and spend anomaly detection to prevent runaway consumption patterns.
- Understanding of Governance-as-Code principles and infrastructure automation approaches.
