Data Scientist

Overview

Join the PuTC Data Science team as a Data Scientist designing and executing undirected research and tackling open-ended data problems related to the oil and gas domain using advanced AI, machine learning and deep learning techniques. The role involves working with complex and large data sets across multiple projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do

• Assimilate next-generation technologies for data-driven solutions in the oil and gas domain.
• Generate innovative ideas, establish new research directions, and shape and execute research projects.
• Apply engineering knowledge to develop data-driven algorithms and prototypes for classification, regression, anomaly detection, failure prediction, and optimization.
• Collaborate with business and engineering teams to implement robust and scalable industrial software solutions.
• Contribute to technical discussions and undertake reviews of different projects as an expert.
• Communicate ideas, plans, and results effectively to different stakeholders.
• Participate in technical forums and other appropriate events and conferences.
• Provide periodic updates through presentations and prototype demonstrations.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously.

What you'll need

• M.S, MTech, or PhD in computer science, mathematics, physics, applied sciences, engineering, or similar disciplines.
• Demonstrated capability in algorithm development using General AI and Generative AI with 3-5 years of experience.
• Deep understanding of Generative AI and deep learning algorithms and their applications to text analytics/NLP and computer vision.
• Strong background in linear algebra, statistics, and probability.
• Strong background in Python programming.

Nice to have

• Strong background in retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and agentic frameworks.
• Hands-on experience developing deep learning models using TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or similar tools.
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
