Overview
Lead statistical and machine learning model development for fraud risk within the CDRR Technology team. This Director-level individual contributor role manages model development projects and provides technical guidance to junior team members.
What you'll do
- Execute end-to-end model development and technical documentation.
- Develop and evaluate models for imbalanced, non-stationary, and adversarial fraud environments.
- Apply statistical and mathematical principles to model selection, validation, and performance assessment.
- Monitor deployed models and diagnose performance degradation.
- Assess emerging fraud patterns and recommend recalibration, redevelopment, threshold changes, or retirement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior Data Scientists and Data Engineers.
What you'll need
- 6+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, statistical modeling, or quantitative analytics.
- Strong knowledge of statistical inference, probability, hypothesis testing, optimization, and model diagnostics.
- Experience with exploratory data analysis, analytical datasets, and feature engineering using complex real-world data.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, or PySpark.
- Ability to independently manage model development assignments and produce technical documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience developing models for fraud detection, financial crime, transaction monitoring, payment risk, or anomalous behavior.
- Financial services experience with high-volume transactional, account, client, or behavioral data.
- Knowledge of fraud typologies, risk indicators, or banking and Wealth Management security issues.
- Experience in regulated environments with model risk management and governance requirements.
- Experience with Tableau or similar data-visualization and reporting tools.
