Design Engineer - EPC Structure detail connections

Overview

As a Senior Associate Design Engineer, design structural systems for Solar Turbine Construction Services products and Oil & Gas projects, including gas compression stations, power generation projects and balance-of-plant systems. Support cross-functional FEED, detail engineering, procurement, in-house fabrication and commissioning activities.

What you'll do

• Lead structural design efforts supporting industrial gas turbine packaging, gas compression and power generation projects, and BOP systems engineering and design.
• Design and optimize structural members, connections, foundations, pipe racks, cable tray support structures, platforms, ladders, handrails and roofs.
• Perform loading and load assessment and structural analysis using STAAD Pro.
• Create 3D models using Autodesk Advance Steel and Revit.
• Develop and maintain coordinated structural BIM models in Autodesk Revit for steel and concrete structures, including pipe racks, equipment support structures, platforms, access structures, foundations and miscellaneous steel.
• Model structural framing systems using grids, levels, columns, beams, braces, slabs, walls, foundations, base plates, openings, stairs, ladders, handrails and structural connections.
• Create, modify and manage Revit structural families, type catalogues, shared parameters, project parameters, templates, view templates, filters, materials and object styles.
• Produce structural general arrangement drawings, framing plans, foundation plans, sections, elevations, connection details, schedules and construction or fabrication-related drawing outputs.
• Prepare and maintain structural schedules and quantity outputs for members, plates, foundations, inserts, embeds and other modelled components.
• Coordinate linked architectural, piping, mechanical, electrical and civil models; perform interference reviews and support clash detection and resolution using Revit and Navisworks.
• Apply model and drawing quality checks for member sizes, levels, grids, offsets, connectivity, openings, clearances, constructability, drawing consistency, annotations, dimensions and compliance with project BIM standards.
• Use Revit worksharing, worksets, model linking, copy-monitor, design options, revisions and issue-management workflows in a multidisciplinary project environment.
• Perform 3D model review, clash checking and resolution.
• Generate 2D, definition and foundation drawings.
• Prepare MTOs and BOMs from structural 3D models.
• Prepare technical specifications for structural components, finalize RFQs and review vendor drawings.
• Adopt global developments in EPC Oil & Gas project technologies.
• Improve design technical knowledge, efficiency, quality and productivity.
• Provide virtual technical support for the shop floor for engineered orders and commissioning support.

What you'll need

• Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in engineering, design execution and associated applications.
• Significant, demonstrated results leading structural design efforts supporting industrial gas turbine packaging and associated gas compression and power generation projects and BOP systems engineering and design.
• Knowledge of discipline-related industry standards, including ASCE 7, IBC, AISC and OSHA.
• Experience applying standards across engineering specifications and vendor documentation.
• Comprehensive familiarity with CAD software packages supporting structural design.
• Broad knowledge of design and drafting techniques, including framing drawing generation, foundation drawing creation and detail drawing creation.
• Knowledge of structural engineering design codes and standards, including ASCE 7, IBC, AISC and OSHA.
• Knowledge of structural member design, connection design, foundation design, pipe rack design, loading and load assessment.
• MTech, BE or B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited engineering institute.
• 6-8 years of Oil and Gas or Power Plant experience.
• Oil and gas EPC project experience with exposure to multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Knowledge of Information Capture, Analytical Thinking, Decision Making and Critical Thinking, Effective Communications, Engineering - Design, Troubleshooting Technical Problems and 3D Software.

Nice to have

• Experience with definition drawings, 3D modelling, smart attributes, structural member design, connection design, foundation design, pipe rack design, loading and load assessment.
• Experience with pipe rack and cable tray support structures, platforms, ladders, handrails and roof design.
• Experience with structural analysis using STAAD Pro.
• Experience with structure drawings, including details, plan and elevation drawings, layouts and foundation drawings.
• Experience with MTOs/BOMs, NWD models, clash checks and vendor drawing review.
• Hands-on experience in Autodesk Revit Structure for steel and concrete structural modelling and coordinated drawing production.
• Ability to create and modify Revit structural families, parameters, templates, schedules, tags, annotations, filters and view standards.
• Proficiency generating structural GA drawings, framing plans, foundation drawings, sections, elevations, details, schedules and material quantity outputs from the Revit model.
• Knowledge of multidisciplinary BIM coordination, linked models, worksharing, clash detection, model health checks, issue resolution and drawing-quality review.
• Ability to check Revit structural models and drawings for design intent, constructability, dimensional accuracy, completeness and compliance with project standards.
• Working experience with Advance Steel, Revit, Tekla, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD and E3D.
• Autodesk Revit Structure or Revit BIM experience.
