DevOps & AI Engineering Intern (Undergraduate)

Overview

Undergraduate DevOps & AI Engineering Intern in WEX’s engineering teams, focused on Developer Enablement and AI Infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Assist in developing, deploying, and maintaining MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and AI observability capabilities.
• Audit, upgrade, and test GitHub Actions dependencies and convert legacy steps into reusable workflow templates.
• Write and refactor production-ready Terraform modules to automate Artifactory repository setup and related policies.
• Investigate, triage, and resolve GitHub, Artifactory, and CI/CD support tickets while maintaining team SLAs.
• Evaluate and implement GenAI tools and agent frameworks to automate engineering workflows.
• Help implement SDLC security and metadata standards, including automated compliance tagging and secret protection.

What you'll need

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science/Software Engineering/IT or related).
• Foundational proficiency in Python or other modern programming/scripting languages.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub and Git CLI workflows.
• Core understanding of networking concepts and technical troubleshooting via error logs and debugging.
• Clear written and verbal communication with a service mindset for internal peers.
• Self-drive to research and troubleshoot issues before escalation and a strong passion for learning modern tech and AI.

Details

• Work mode: Remote (US - Remote).
• Internship duration: 13-week paid internship running from late May to mid-August.
• Interview/recruiting window: recruiting begins in September and continues through November.
