DevOps Engineer

Overview

Design, implement and maintain software solutions and CI/CD pipelines for client environments, translating business requirements into technical designs and supporting deployment into production.

What you'll do

• Work with Platform Specialists to receive detailed business and user requirement specifications.
• Assist with preparing technical requirements documents, including systems and flowcharts showing information flow.
• Analyze business requirements and ensure the designed solution meets them.
• Transform detailed requirements into a complete, detailed systems design document.
• Perform proof of concept where required.
• Compile detailed technical specifications for developers or IT programmers to implement.
• Convert designs into complete information systems, including acquiring and installing the systems environment, creating and testing databases, preparing test case procedures and test files, coding, compiling, refining programs, and performing test readiness reviews and procurement activities.
• Document the development process, including development procedures for application use and security.
• Examine program errors in logic and data and make recommendations to correct them or escalate problems accordingly.
• Work with required teams to assist with installation and deployment of the application.
• Assist with implementation preparation and implementation of the solution into a production environment.
• Assist with resolving problems identified in the integration and test phases.
• Support all code sets and implementations in production in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Write and distribute task descriptions in a production environment to operate and maintain the solution.
• Assist with post-implementation process reviews.
• Perform other related tasks as required.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology or a related field.
• Seasoned knowledge of multi-technology application design best practices.
• Ability to take holistic views of application environments, including hardware platforms, applications, databases, operating systems, and storage.
• Ability to work with abstract concepts, with sound problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Seasoned technical understanding of development and platform engineering.
• Excellent client-centricity with the ability to focus on business outcomes.
• Highly organized with excellent planning skills.
• Seasoned communication skills to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including technical teams and clients.
• Impeccable attention to detail and ability to work well within a team environment.
• Excellent knowledge of project management principles to ensure client projects are executed accordingly.
• Ability to contribute to improving internal effectiveness, including current methodologies, processes, and tools.
• Advanced knowledge to design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment processes.
• Seasoned knowledge and experience with deployment and release management across environments.
• Seasoned knowledge of automation tooling and source code repositories.
• Seasoned experience deploying software solutions to clients in an outsourced or similar IT environment.
• Seasoned experience working in a multi-team environment across multiple geographies.
• Seasoned programming/development experience including Agile processes such as SCRUM and KANBAN.

• Relevant Agile-related certification.
• Relevant certification for cloud platforms and services, for example AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Relevant certification for scripting and programming languages, for example Bash, Python, or Ruby.
