Overview
The DevOps Engineer / Specialist is an intermediate to senior technical role responsible for designing, building, automating, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployment infrastructure, and cloud/on-premise platforms. The role bridges software development and IT operations across automated software delivery, continuous integration, release management, infrastructure-as-code, and operational reliability.
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines across multi-tier environments.
- Standardize and automate build, test, artifact packaging, and deployment workflows using modern pipeline automation tooling.
- Facilitate zero-downtime deployment strategies, including Blue-Green and Canary deployments, and automated rollback mechanisms.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to optimize the build, packaging, and runtime configuration of Java and Spring Boot applications.
- Troubleshoot build lifecycle issues, dependency management conflicts involving Maven and Gradle, JVM runtime configurations, and microservice container deployment bottlenecks.
- Champion standard DevOps practices and guide development teams in building cloud-native, observable, and easily deployable applications.
- Provision, configure, and maintain scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Manage and support containerized workloads on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Author and maintain Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, and container configurations adhering to enterprise standards.
- Embed security controls and automated vulnerability and code scanning tools such as SonarQube, Snyk, and Checkmarx into deployment pipelines.
- Ensure adherence to change management, release governance, audit compliance, and access management policies.
- Assess risk when technical and operational decisions are made and safeguard organizational data and systems by driving compliance with applicable enterprise standards, laws, and policies.
- Implement monitoring, centralized logging, and alerting systems such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and ELK.
- Participate in incident management, technical troubleshooting, root-cause analyses, and production issue resolution.
What you'll need
- 9-12years of relevant technology experience with a proven track record in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or build/release automation.
- Demonstrated experience building and operating enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
- Strong hands-on experience with Docker/Podman and Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift.
- Proficiency with pipeline tools such as Jenkins, Tekton, Harness, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
- Proven experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
- Strong scripting proficiency in Bash/Shell, Python, or Groovy.
- Experience configuring and working with monitoring and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, and ELK.
- Familiarity with static/dynamic code analysis (SAST/DAST), artifact repositories such as Artifactory/Nexus, and secret management solutions such as HashiCorp Vault.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset with the ability to solve complex, distributed system problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional development, architecture, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- High degree of ownership, self-motivation, and ability to drive automation initiatives independently.
Nice to have
- Practical understanding of Java (8/11/17+) and Spring Boot ecosystems, including build tools such as Maven and Gradle, multi-module builds, dependency management, and JVM performance basics.
