Digital Systems Engineer - 3D CAD

Overview

The Digital Systems Engineer is part of the Engineering Services Team within the Chevron ENGINE Center, creating and maintaining detailed 3D models of facilities, equipment, and systems to support engineering design, visualization, and analysis.

What you'll do

• Deliver 3D scans and models of petrochemical facilities for Digital Twin deployments across various assets.
• Collaborate with consultants, engineers, and project managers to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
• Oversee AVEVA E3D setup and administration, database management, clash manager configuration, report customization, MDS customization, creation and management of user-defined attributes (UDAs), spooler setup, and catalogue and specification building in a global environment.
• Use advanced techniques and tools to capture accurate geometry and dimensions of assets and create realistic 3D models for design, analysis, and simulation.
• Audit the quality of 3D models delivered by third-party providers for correctness and adherence to company standards.
• Guide clients and stakeholders in specifying expectations to third parties for large-scale, outsourced 3D modelling, and communicate these for inclusion in contract documents and/or specifications.
• Support and guide the design team on issues across all disciplines.
• Create macros in Programmable Macro Language (PML) to automate simple tasks such as adding or updating UDAs and extracting Navisworks/Review files.
• Configure project-specific customizations using PML/PML II.
• Set up clash management and run clash reports.
• Generate custom reports from the 3D model as per project requirements.
• Integrate data from various sources and create intelligent asset visualizations for digital twins.
• Programmatically upload attributes into 3D modelling software and extract data from it for comparison with other data sources.
• Diagnose issues and deviations from standards in existing 3D models of oil and gas facilities using AVEVA E3D, and rectify them to contain complete and accurate metadata attributes.
• Configure (including troubleshooting) and extract key deliverables such as Material Take Off (MTO), piping isometrics, equipment lists, line lists, and weight reports.
• Prepare 3D modelling guidelines and specifications, including lessons learned across assets.
• Create and administer databases, including exporting, importing, clean-up, and merging; load and build catalogues and specifications.
• Set up users and databases for collaboration between multiple companies (Chevron and EPC/contractors).
• Create new catalogues for projects per vendor data for piping, equipment, structural, and electrical and instrumentation.
• Manage E3D/PDMS Global and E3D/PDMS Extract Databases.
• Coordinate with the Systems lead in setting up global projects.
• Create local backups of running projects as necessary.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline (mechanical, chemical, etc.) (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university.
• Hands-on experience in relevant tools for laser scanning, point cloud data management, photogrammetry, data integration, data analysis software, cloud platforms, and digital twins.
• Knowledge of the latest technologies and innovations in these fields.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of work experience as a 3D CAD Administrator and Designer, with extensive knowledge of plant layout, piping design, and piping materials.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, mechanical systems, HVAC, electrical components, and civil/structural elements of plant operations.

Details

• Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
• Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday, which may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
