Overview
Director of Engineering responsible for leading engineering teams, aligning engineering efforts with customer and business objectives, and driving software quality, productivity, technical strategy, and operational excellence for complex healthcare technology programs.
What you'll do
- Lead and manage the team in Bangalore, India, fostering collaboration, accountability, ownership, inclusion, continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence.
- Collaborate with product, program, and IB teams to align engineering efforts with customer and business objectives.
- Execute engineering programs and strategies enabling AI-assisted development, automation, and verification to accelerate delivery, improve software quality, and increase engineering productivity.
- Partner with product management, program management, quality, regulatory, and technology leaders to translate customer needs and feedback into prioritized engineering outcomes and manage priorities and execution.
- Work with different GE HealthCare businesses at JFWTC to identify opportunities and drive collaboration and reuse between businesses.
- Influence product roadmaps, technical strategy, architecture decisions, and investment priorities by balancing customer value, business objectives, technical sustainability, and engineering excellence.
- Build and develop engineering leadership and technical talent through hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering managers and technical leaders.
- Establish an effective global operating model and consistent engineering standards across regions.
- Foster diversity, inclusion, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning across the organization.
- Ensure software solutions meet GE HealthCare expectations for customer satisfaction, efficiency, simplicity, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, privacy, and operational excellence.
- Communicate technology strategy, execution progress, risks, opportunities, recommendations, and business outcomes with executive leadership, customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Complete planned Quality & Compliance training within defined deadlines.
- Identify and report quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
- Drive compliance and closure of regulatory and quality requirements before approving Design Control FDRs and NPI program milestones.
- Identify continuous improvement activities and initiate process and product quality improvement initiatives.
- Comply with change management work instructions and develop an open quality culture based on quality and compliance objectives.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math); MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership or management roles, preferably in healthcare, medical devices, or high-growth tech environments handling complex programs or projects.
- Experience translating customer feedback into actionable engineering solutions that improve usability, performance, and satisfaction.
- Active participation in the team and focus on optimizing engineering practices and improvement opportunities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work harmoniously within a team.
- Strong software development experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or similar technologies.
- Deep understanding of software engineering principles, including object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, API design, service-oriented architectures, and modern software development practices.
- Experience leading engineering teams responsible for complex software products from architecture and design through production deployment and operational support.
- Ability to provide technical guidance, evaluate architecture decisions, and drive engineering excellence across teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.

- Strong existing domain knowledge of healthcare.
- Strong understanding of ultrasound technologies, healthcare workflows, and regulatory environments.
- Significant experience leading software engineering organizations, including hiring, developing, mentoring, and retaining engineering managers and technical leaders.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams across multiple regions and time zones.
- Demonstrated ability to work with technical leadership teams to implement product development in a global matrix environment.
- Demonstrated experience with global product releases throughout the entire NPI cycle.
- Excellent knowledge of engineering, program management, and business planning processes, with experience across the full product lifecycle.

- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and results orientation.
- Experience with mobility platforms such as Android, iOS, and other mobility-related platforms.
- Experience working with cloud-related applications such as AWS and Azure.
- Demonstrated experience with New Product Introduction regulatory compliance processes, design history files, and related documentation.
- Familiarity with ISO, FDA, and other regulatory standards such as IEC 60601 and CISPER 11.
- Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands, and technical risks or issues.
- Demonstrated skills in proactively identifying, facilitating, and driving completion of a product or program.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work within and influence cross-functional team members.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results in an ambiguous environment.
- Experience utilizing lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
