Director, Software Development

Overview

Director of Software Development leading the technical vision and architecture for a broad software domain focused on cloud/hybrid distributed systems.

What you'll do

• Lead design and development of scalable, performant, reliable distributed systems in cloud and hybrid environments.
• Architect major software components and review/approve critical design proposals with focus on performance and maintainability.
• Champion engineering excellence through software design practices, code quality, observability, and performance optimization.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders to raise the engineering bar.
• Serve as a lead Incident Commander and develop response playbooks; conduct post-incident analyses.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering with significant focus on architecting and delivering large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong experience designing scalable, high-performance, resilient cloud-native/distributed software systems.
• Deep expertise in one or more systems programming or backend languages such as Java, Go, C++, or Python.
• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging/securing/positioning AI-driven solutions.
• Experience using ITIL frameworks and incident data for incident management, service maturity, and technical operability reviews, including 24/7 on-call rotations.
