Job description

Overview

Lead software engineering development leadership for Mastercard Enterprise security solutions dispute products. Provide management direction, strategic technical guidance, project and release management, and leadership across the Product Delivery Lifecycle.

What you'll do

  • Provide leadership and technical direction to a software development team across the Product Delivery Lifecycle.
  • Hire, coach, mentor, appraise, motivate, and manage senior technical individual contributors, management staff, and direct and indirect reports.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, Operations, and cross-program teams to ensure alignment with organization and program objectives.
  • Establish working relationships with Product Managers and other functional teams.
  • Ensure product development meets Mastercard’s business needs.
  • Ensure development teams use appropriate Mastercard standard development methodologies and follow technology standards.
  • Ensure projects and development are appropriately documented.
  • Establish and monitor objectives for the department and staff members to align with department strategies and objectives.
  • Lead the definition, development, and delivery of major cross-department initiatives with broad scope and long-term business implications.
  • Partner with the business to identify innovative solutions and drive strategic decisions.
  • Develop business cases aligned with Mastercard objectives.
  • Look for opportunities for innovation and creative problem solving.
  • Present to Senior Management, Business Owners, and other stakeholders and help them in the decision-making process.
  • Recommend technologies and strategic technical direction to Senior Management.
  • Lead implementation of processes and supporting tools based on the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Identify process gaps, provide estimates for business solutions, define initial project scope and requirements, and manage scope during the project lifecycle.
  • Plan overall project scope and define scope for each phase and iteration to meet business and time-to-market needs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and architects to technically and functionally align around Java/J2EE, Springboot, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Gen/Agentic AI, event-driven architecture, microservices, and pipe-filter architecture.
  • Ensure projects or efforts are adequately staffed, trained, and managed.
  • Ensure personnel have appropriate skills and behaviors and communicate performance results.
  • Manage efforts within approved manpower and budget guidelines.
  • Build and maintain high team morale.
  • Perform strategic planning, financial planning, administration, and department management.
  • Respond to operational and business concerns or issues related to future business programs, projects, or enhancements to ensure consistent delivery of quality services.
  • Manage financials for multiple projects and programs.
  • Interact across multiple organizational levels and assume a lead role for large or complex projects.
  • Interact with business partners.
  • Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of accessed information.
  • Report suspected information security violations or breaches.
  • Complete periodic mandatory security training in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technology-related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to hire, lead, and manage senior technical individual contributors and management staff.
  • Ability to foster open communications across various organizational levels.
  • Technical knowledge of architecture such as event-driven, microservice, and pipe-filter architecture.
  • Technical knowledge of Java/J2EE, Springboot, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Gen AI, and Agentic AI in technology.
  • Technical and people management skills to lead, appraise, motivate, and direct direct and indirect reports.
  • Skills to provide functional, technical hands-on, and directional guidance to staff.
  • Ability to recommend policy, program objectives, and strategic direction changes to management.
  • People management capabilities to hire, coach, mentor, and appraise while working with Product, Engineering, Operations, and cross-program teams at various levels.
  • Ability to manage financials for multiple projects and programs.
  • Ability to interact across multiple organizational levels and assume a lead role and set direction for large or complex projects.
  • Aptitude, ability, and experience interacting with business partners.
  • Strong analytical, technical, planning, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of software methodologies, including functionality, technical aspects, and limitations.
  • High energy, a can-do attitude, and a strong desire to succeed in a collaborative environment.
