Director, Software Engineering - Java

Overview

Director, Software Engineering - Java will lead engineering strategy, delivery, and operational excellence for Mastercard’s Next Generation File Transfer (NGFT) platform.

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end delivery and health of the NGFT platform, including core transfer engine, orchestration, and supporting services.
• Define and execute the engineering strategy and roadmap for stability and long-term modernization.
• Lead and develop multiple engineering teams and managers across global locations.
• Drive operational excellence through observability, incident management, and resiliency improvements.
• Ensure architecture supports scalability, modularity, and high availability across multi-region deployments.
• Partner with Product, TPM, SRE, and business stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities and migrations.

What you'll need

• Extensive experience in software engineering with progressive leadership managing managers.
• Proven success leading large-scale, mission-critical platforms or infrastructure systems.
• Experience in distributed systems, high-availability environments, and regulated industries.
• Strong understanding of distributed and microservices-based architectures.
• Strong understanding of event-driven and reactive systems.
• Strong understanding of file transfer and integration technologies such as HTTP and SFTP.
