Overview
Design and integrate robotic and mechatronic subsystems for high-precision electron microscopy products, supporting sample handling, positioning, automation and lifecycle management.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize robotic and mechatronic systems for electron microscopy platforms.
- Develop precision sample-handling mechanisms, transfer systems, end-effectors and grippers.
- Design motion mechanisms using servo motors, actuators, encoders and sensors.
- Integrate robotic subsystems with controls, software, systems, electrical and mechanical teams.
- Assess design changes for performance, manufacturability, reliability and serviceability impacts.
- Lead value-engineering initiatives and participate in design reviews, risk assessments and root-cause investigations.
- Support vendor requirements, integration, characterization, troubleshooting and lifecycle activities.
What you'll need
- 8–12 years of experience in robotics, mechatronics, precision motion or electromechanical product development.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of robotics, automation, motion control, servo systems and mechanism design.
- Experience designing precision robotic assemblies, automated handling systems or electromechanical products.
- Experience integrating motors, encoders, sensors, actuators and control hardware.
- Knowledge of precision mechanical design, GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM and DFA.
- Experience with CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks or Siemens NX, and PLM systems such as Teamcenter.
Nice to have
- Experience with electron microscopes or similar scientific instrumentation.
