Overview
Develop and support embedded electronic products based on microcontrollers or microprocessors, including associated power, electromechanical, sensing, interface, communication and wireless subsystems.
What you'll do
- Design and develop embedded systems based on microcontrollers or microprocessors.
- Design and verify communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, RS232 and USB.
- Design multi-layer PCBs in accordance with industry standards such as IPC.
- Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers.
- Configure and use specialized test equipment including Power Analyzers, High Speed Oscilloscopes, Spectrum & Network Analyzers, and RF Shield rooms/chambers.
- Perform product compliance and reliability testing, root cause analysis, DFMEA, encapsulation techniques and manufacturing testing.
- Manage all phases of the development process across multiple locations and technical teams.
- Work collaboratively across teams and functions using communication, collaboration, networking, emotional resilience and negotiation.
What you'll need
- Expertise designing and developing embedded systems based on microcontrollers or microprocessors.
- Expertise with associated subsystems such as switching power supplies, electromechanical drives, sensors, I/O interfaces, and wireless and wired communications modules.
- Hands-on experience designing and verifying communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, RS232 and USB.
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs.
- Good understanding of DFM and DFT in accordance with industry standards such as IPC.
- Hands-on experience with EDA tools such as Altium, LTSpice and PSpice.
- Knowledge of short-range wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, BLE, UWB, Zigbee or Z-Wave.
- Knowledge of RF performance criteria and concepts such as output power, sensitivity, spurious, harmonics, intermodulation, S-parameters, Smith charts and tuning networks.
- Commendable understanding of design for EMI/EMC and troubleshooting compliance-related failures.
- Knowledge of product compliance and reliability testing, root cause analysis, DFMEA, encapsulation techniques, manufacturing testing, and high-volume manufacturing processes and resulting design considerations.
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, quality engineering and reliability engineering.
- Seasoned in electronic product development processes and life cycle management.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and cross-functionally.
