Overview
As an Engineer I in Data Warehousing & Automation Engineering, you will partner with a team of data professionals to deliver data warehousing initiatives across LPL Financial. You will build data solutions as strategic assets to enhance decision-making, drive innovation, and ensure data quality and governance.
What you'll do
- Engineer solutions to deliver on LPL’s data warehousing strategy.
- Develop data products in Snowflake and dbt, ensuring seamless data flow, quality, and accessibility.
- Develop data replication and transformation pipelines leveraging solutions such as HVR.
- Configure and manage HVR instances for optimal performance and scalability.
- Develop, automate, and implement data quality checks and monitoring procedures.
- Manage and optimize Snowflake data warehouses, data marts, and application-based solutions to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Ensure data security, compliance, and governance are integrated into all data warehousing processes to meet regulatory and organizational standards.
- Emphasize rapid prototyping and continuous process improvement to enhance data warehousing capabilities and drive innovation.
- Stay up to date on the latest advancements in industry and technology solutions, bringing insights to the team for continuous development of the stack, solutions, and ways of working.
What you'll need
- 3+ years of experience in both on-prem and cloud-based data warehousing and data marts, with at least 2 years focused on leadership of warehousing team(s).
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with Snowflake and AWS S3 at minimum.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with data governance and cataloging.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience programming in Python and/or SQL, including production code, reusable libraries, and tests.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with pipeline development and orchestration, including HVR, Airflow, Step Functions, dbt, and others.
- Demonstrable hands-on experience with DevOps for data, including Terraform/CloudFormation, CI/CD, monitoring, and runbook creation.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data quality, and secure data onboarding/governance.
- Experience with both batch and real-time data processing.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree.
- Snowflake developer certifications.
- AI Engineering experience with Snowflake Coretex, AWS Bedrock, and similar solutions.
- Demonstrated use of AI/ML tools to augment engineering productivity, including prompting for code generation, LLMs for documentation and tests, and query optimization.
- Experience with Dynatrace, Datadog, or Prometheus for observability; Dynatrace is preferred.
- Experience with Unity Catalog, Collibra, or Atlan for data governance and security.
