Overview
Engineer II – Structural Engineering in Pratt & Whitney’s Compression Systems Engineering organization. Execute structural engineering projects involving analysis, technical documentation, presentations, project commitments and collaboration to resolve structural problems.
What you'll do
- Ensure successful execution of projects using Engineering Standard Work (ESW).
- Perform state-of-the-art ANSYS Finite Element Analysis for stress, vibration, determination of low cycle fatigue life and residual life (fracture mechanics) prediction.
- Write clear substantiation documentation.
- Create and provide impactful, persuasive technical presentations to internal and external customers.
- Drive execution efficiency on project commitments with high technical quality.
- Support planning and manage technical tasks and milestones.
- Collaborate with project and discipline stakeholders to resolve key structural problems.
- Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor.
- Contribute to PW IEC and Global structural engineering discipline forums.
What you'll need
- B.Tech/B.E in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 3-8 years prior relevant engineering experience or M.Tech/M.E in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 1-6 years prior relevant engineering experience.
- Be eager to learn new things, contribute a fresh perspective, and share knowledge with others.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working across functions, organizations, and all levels of management.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Broad understanding of gas turbine engine fundamentals and associated components.
- Results focus and the ability to drive tasks to completion through disciplined execution.
Nice to have
- Structural analysis experience on compressor hardware, especially Rotors, casings and kinematics.
- Strong technical skills in structural engineering tools & methods.
- Experience in the development of gas turbine engine compressor hardware.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent record of collaboration, innovation, and initiative.
