Lead Engineer - Mechanical

Overview

Lead mechanical design and analysis for components and systems across GE Vernova's gas power portfolio. Own technical hardware decisions, collaborate with global cross-functional teams, and support reliable, compliant product delivery.

What you'll do

• Execute mechanical design and stress, modal, and lifing analyses for gas turbine, steam, generator, and accessory components.
• Own mechanical hardware and perform validation testing.
• Evaluate thermal growth, manufacturing variation, and assembly stack-up.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to optimize components and subsystems.
• Lead root cause analyses to improve reliability, quality, and yield.
• Manage project milestones through technical reviews and NPI processes.
• Coach team members and build relationships with Principal and Chief Engineers.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
• At least 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with mechanical design and analysis.
• Ability to perform validation testing and technical evaluations.
• Ability to apply Lean principles.
• Strong communication and project management skills.

Nice to have

• Additional 1–2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proficiency with ANSYS and NX.
• Programming experience with Python or Excel VBA for data analysis.
• Familiarity with AI-driven tools.
