Overview
Work as a Materials and Repair Engineer in gas turbine materials and manufacturing, with emphasis on thermal spray coatings, additive manufacturing, cold spray coatings and non-destructive technologies. Carry out research and new technology development in a dynamic, international environment.
What you'll do
- Drive material manufacturing or repair qualification processes independently with minimum supervision.
- Apply characterization techniques to analyze research in materials technologies for gas turbine new technology development.
- Drive and independently execute experimental work and materials modelling to substantiate or validate new technology development.
- Lead qualification of suppliers for repair and new make parts.
- Prepare technical specifications, manufacturing drawings and design documentation independently.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and testing teams to support product industrialization.
- Ensure compliance with international standards including ASME, API and ISO, and apply best design practices.
What you'll need
- Proven expertise in characterization for metallurgical processes such as optical microscopy, image analysis, microhardness, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and mechanical testing at room and elevated temperatures.
- Agility in research thinking with scientific rigor and depth of metallurgical principles.
- Proficient use of Matlab, Origin and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of high-performance materials including superalloys, ceramics and thermal barrier coatings, and related processes.
- Knowledge of microstructural degradation mechanisms and failure analysis.
- PhD in Materials or Mechanical Engineering with 4 years experience or M.Tech / B.Tech with 6–8 years’ experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
Nice to have
- Strengthening mechanisms is preferred.
- Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering with work experience is desirable.
- Experience of mechanical / material design of turbomachinery or high temperature/high-pressure components is desirable.
