Engineer Purchase

Overview

Engineer Purchase is accountable for direct materials and subcontract purchasing, including purchase order approvals and efficient processing of purchasing messages to meet material requirements.

What you'll do

• Execute direct materials and subcontract purchasing in line with the Code of Conduct.
• Approve purchase orders according to the Delegation of Authority policy and approval process.
• Process and acknowledge purchase orders and MRP action messages (Order, Expedite, De-Expedite, Cancel) or purchase requisitions.
• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers.
• Negotiate improved supplier prices and business terms and review opportunities for savings.
• Control direct material costs to achieve annual savings targets.

What you'll need

• 5 years of overall experience.
• 3+ years working within a purchasing/supply chain department.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Analytical skills including Microsoft programs, data analysis with V-LOOKUPs and pivot tables.
• Process-driven approach and “systems thinking”.
• Experience in technical specification and selection of vendors, including material and product knowledge.
• Engineering diploma or university degree (Mechanical/Electrical preferred).
