Overview
Testing engineer responsible for test planning, commissioning, execution and data analysis of PEM electrolyser stacks, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis of failures.
What you'll do
- Prepare test plans, test protocols and procedures for performance characterization, durability, accelerated stress and dynamic cycling tests.
- Support commissioning of the test system, including verification of sensors, interlocks and safety logic through to final tester acceptance.
- Manage routine calibration and verification of test instruments to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Execute testing and data analysis of PEM electrolyser stacks.
- Adapt quickly to different test types, tester designs and functionalities.
- Guide test technicians with clear instructions for continuous monitoring of stack and system operation and performance.
- Process and analyse large multi-channel datasets from operating stacks, including individual cell voltages, stack voltage/current, temperatures, pressures, flow rates, etc.
- Define, calculate and track key performance indicators such as cell voltage spread, energy consumption, efficiency, degradation rate and gas crossover.
- Perform cell-to-cell and stack-to-stack statistical analysis and correlate test results with stack build data to identify root causes of variation.
- Perform gas chromatography (GC) analysis and data evaluation to support performance characterisation and identify anomalies and key trends.
- Apply electrochemical characterisation methods for performance evaluation and diagnostics of electrochemical systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to analyse and correlate stack and system performance.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) of system failure modes and oversee troubleshooting and maintenance of the testers.
- Record and manage test deviations, non-conformances and corrective actions and provide feedback to stack design and materials teams.
- Prepare test reports, technical summaries and presentations for internal reviews and project updates.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency, quality and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations.
