Overview
Validate firmware and hardware designs for embedded systems, ensuring product reliability and supporting automation initiatives for smart power systems, including IoT-enabled smart breakers and related devices.
What you'll do
- Design and execute test plans and test cases for embedded systems across various stages of development.
- Perform manual and automated testing of firmware and hardware modules.
- Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, power sources, multimeters, and debuggers for validation and troubleshooting.
- Design and create hardware and simulated test setups.
- Troubleshoot faults caused by firmware or hardware in case of failure.
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts for regression and system-level testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, hardware, and systems engineering to identify and resolve issues.
- Conduct IoT connectivity testing, including BLE and Wi-Fi, for smart power devices.
- Document test results, maintain traceability, and support compliance with UL and other regulatory standards.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
- 4–6 years of experience in embedded system QA and validation.
- Proficiency in using debuggers, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and AC and DC power sources.
- Working knowledge of Python scripting for test automation.
- Exposure to smart power systems, GFCI, smart breakers, or IoT device testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation abilities.
- Embedded product QA skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with various cultures across the globe.
Nice to have
- Experience with test management tools and version control systems, such as Git.
- Experience with Jira and Atlassian test management tools and defect management tools, and version control systems, such as Git.
- Familiarity with compliance testing, including UL and IEC standards.
- Knowledge of BLE/Wi-Fi stack validation and cloud connectivity testing.
