Engineering Manager, Research Productivity

Overview

Engineering Manager for Anthropic’s Research Productivity team, leading machine learning and distributed systems experts who build and evolve research tooling for distributed finetuning runs.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with technical and product leads to prioritize team work for fast iteration on research projects and training runs.
• Design operating processes such as postmortem review, incident response, and on-call rotations.
• Coach and support direct reports on professional growth.
• Run recruiting for the team efficiently during a period of rapid growth.
• Work with research teams to incorporate innovations into the production finetuning pipeline.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to keep training runs and data pipelines efficient.

What you'll need

• At least 2 years of experience and active people management experience.
• Ability to understand complex technical systems at a high level across ML and distributed tooling.
• Experience working with research to production pipelines (preferred).
• Strong people management skills including coaching, performance evaluation, mentorship, and career development (preferred).
• Strong project management skills including prioritization and communicating across team/org boundaries (preferred).
• Experience recruiting including staffing needs, designing interview loops, evaluating candidates, and closing candidates (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Details

• Annual salary range: $405,000–$850,000 USD.
• Hybrid policy: expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time.
• Visa sponsorship available (not guaranteed for every role/candidate).
