Manager I, Engineering - Data Visualization Explorations

Overview

Engineering Manager for the Data Visualization Explorations team within Datadog’s Graphing organization, leading product direction, staffing projects, and coaching engineers to deliver end-to-end data experiences.

What you’ll do

• Work with Product Management and Design to plan and staff team projects.
• Coach and develop engineers at various levels.
• Drive cross-team communication and apply design best practices for project management, code review, and architecture patterns.
• Anticipate cross-team dependencies and blockers to team goals.
• Reuse or customize features across dashboards, notebooks, and product pages.
• Maintain high standards for operations practices, including bug triage, incident response, and performance telemetry for widgets.

What you’ll need

• At least 2 years of people management experience in a software engineering or similar setting.
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills.
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React.
• Excellent communication skills for clear, actionable, and empathetic feedback.
• Product-oriented mindset focused on solving customer problems and shipping iteratively.
• Passion for data visualization and building intuitive, performant user interfaces.
• Demonstrated sense of ownership over the team’s work.

• Estimated yearly salary range: $192,000–$240,000 USD.
