Engineering Manager (Ruby on Rails) to lead and mentor a backend-focused squad while staying hands-on with the Rails codebase.

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor a backend-focused squad to drive technical quality, delivery velocity, and wellbeing.
• Stay hands-on with the Ruby on Rails codebase through architecture decisions, code reviews, and complex feature development.
• Own the technical architecture for your squad’s domain across Rails monolith and evolving microservices.
• Translate product roadmap priorities into technical plans with realistic timelines.
• Champion engineering best practices including testing, observability, security, and clean code.
• Introduce AI-augmented workflows to accelerate delivery and reduce toil.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve engineering processes across the organization.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.
• At least 2 years in an engineering management or technical lead capacity.
• Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails (not a “managed from a distance” role).
• Strong backend architecture experience designing/evolving systems at scale.
• Comfort working on a large Rails monolith and evolving it sustainably.
• Exposure to agentic AI or LLM tooling via production, side projects, or experimentation.
• Strong async communication across distributed EU/India timezones.

• Lead with empathy, including running effective 1:1s and creating psychological safety.
