Overview
Maintain, validate, develop, and deliver project master data used for engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and project controls activities.
What you'll do
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of equipment, piping, structural, electrical, and instrumentation data.
- Consolidate data from multiple engineering disciplines into a single project-controlled Masterlist.
- Generate and verify Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from 3D models, drawings, and engineering databases.
- Maintain revision-controlled Masterlists throughout the project life cycle.
- Track quantity changes arising from revisions and change requests.
- Review engineering drawings, datasheets, line lists, valve lists, equipment lists, BOMs, and MTOs to populate project Masterlists.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve data inconsistencies and technical queries.
- Provide progress reports and metrics on Masterlist completion and quality.
- Validate engineering inputs against project specifications, standards, and design documents.
- Conduct data quality checks to ensure error-free deliverables.
- Support development and implementation of automation tools.
- Liaise with project teams, clients, vendors and subordinators regarding document submission, approvals and updates.
- Make oral presentations and generate periodic reports (document status) for management.
- Provide training or guidance to staff on document control procedures and software use.
- Use a structured approach in analyzing and resolving technical problems.
- Use, test and upgrade 3D software and PLM software packages in the process.
- Help others to install and maintain software.
- Explain problem identification, reporting and escalation procedures.
- Pursue, prepare for and assume new technical assignments and challenges.
What you'll need
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or MTech/BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Engineering Institute.
- 10-12 years of Oil and Gas/Power Plant experience.
- Knowledge of engineering and data management tools such as Excel, Power BI, Plant 3D, Navisworks, PLM systems, and project databases.
- Knowledge of piping systems with relevant specifications, codes, and standards such as ASME B 31.3 and B 31.8.
- Well versed with Oil and gas EPC projects with exposure to multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of document control.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
- Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.
- Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Knowledge of the types, features and tools of 3D software and PLM software.
- Knowledge of 3D software like Plant 3D, Navisworks Manage/freedom, Autodesk Inventor.
- Knowledge of PLM software like Windchill and Synergies Adept.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in the development environment.
