Overview
Act as lead engineer for mechanical sub systems and technical documentation, designing and integrating elevator electrical subsystems.
What you'll do
- Design and integrate elevator electrical subsystems, understanding control system requirements, motor and VF drive interfaces, electrical codes and application software fundamentals.
- Develop concepts of electrical sub-systems, and review and create electrical component and sub-system design requirements.
- Design wire harnesses and manage the interface between elevator components through electrification and signaling.
- Prepare the Bill of Materials for elevator control systems of various ratings.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities and innovative ideas in electrical subsystems, with alternative design solutions to reduce product cost.
- Select and size key electrical components for electrical sub-system designs, such as relays, safety sensors, circuit breakers, switches, transformers, and protection systems for control and power circuits.
- Propose and integrate alternative drives, machines, controllers and other electrical components in the event of product obsolescence.
- Support electrical system calculation and analysis for cable sizing, power converter sizing, machine sizing, heat release calculations and power supply designs.
- Provide technical leadership on designing electrical components using OTIS design standards for cost, manufacturing, assembly, reliability and safety.
- Participate in design reviews of the electrical sub-system.
- Perform failure and risk analysis using OTIS tools PROCERT, FTA, FMEA, RAMP, RRCA, DoE, etc.
- Develop and execute qualification plans for electrical components, sub-systems and the system level.
- Develop and execute reliability tests per OTIS and international standards (EN/IEC).
- Implement root cause analysis to analyze test results of electrical sub-systems, components and FTBs.
- Develop and improve the design process for electrical components and sub-systems.
- Provide product support and technical expertise for Sales, Manufacturing (IE) and Supply Chain.
What you'll need
- BE/B.Tech/M.Tech with 5 to 7 years of experience as an electrical design engineer.
- Experience in product development and in industrial electrical components or switchgear.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as AutoCAD, E Plan or E3.
- Delivery of electrical components and sub-system designs meeting OTIS standards of safety, quality and design.
- Timely troubleshooting support in resolving technical problems related to electrical systems and components.
- Deliver electrical designs on time, meeting requirements and within cost targets.
- Improvement in design quality through reduction in design errors and escapes to the field.
Nice to have
- Elevator experience of 2 years.
