Experienced Software Engineer

Overview

Automattic is hiring an experienced software engineer to work on its product ecosystem, including WordPress, WooCommerce, Gutenberg and Tumblr.

What you'll need

• Production experience with several programming languages, frameworks, and paradigms.
• Comfort with becoming an expert in PHP and JavaScript, the languages mostly used at Automattic, even though being an expert is not a requirement to apply.
• Experience working at scale, on the backend and performance side, or through the complexity of interacting with a multi-million diverse userbase.
• Care and obsession over the quality and details of your work.
• Enjoyment of debugging problems and understanding the layers of abstraction below and above your work.
• Openness and ability to travel 3-4 weeks per year to meet teammates in person.

• Base salary range of $70,000-$170,000 USD, paid in local currency, with global ranges regardless of location.
• Travel of 3-4 weeks per year to meet teammates in person.
