FBS Data Engineer (SQL & Power BI) (Remote)

Overview

Data Engineer with a strong P&C insurance background who partners with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for financial loss reporting and analytics solutions.

What you'll do

• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements; facilitate discussions with SMEs and stakeholders.
• Translate business data stories into functional specifications.
• Support source-to-target mapping and business rule validation.
• Assist with UAT planning and execution.
• Track issues, decisions, and approvals.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure requirements are implemented accurately.
• Develop moderately complex value-based analytics solutions for quality, business process functionality, or other strategic, data, or analytic initiatives of moderate complexity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and establish analytics requirements.
• Create detailed documentation and business plans that address stakeholder needs.
• Liaise between IT and Product Management for data solutions.
• Develop and implement moderately complex enterprise-wide data integration strategies that utilize various data marts and data warehouse applications to enhance reporting.
• Continuously improve data platforms, dashboards, and reports to meet emerging and changing business demands and guidelines.
• Consult with limited guidance from Principal on UAT, technical specifications, strategic planning, contract design, technical support, testing updates, and trainings.
• Apply an intermediate understanding of data elements, structures, and standards typical of financial services transactions, reporting, and cloud-based data storage/sharing, balancing regulatory and compliance requirements with business needs.
• Manage data from multiple sources and use project management skills to complete moderately complex projects with minimal coaching and guidance.
• Transmit data and proactively ensure data quality; troubleshoot data issues and devise creative and effective ways to avoid or mitigate them.
