Overview
Field Service Engineer for ABB’s Process Automation business unit, supporting service and project work for customers in the Cottbus region.
What you'll do
- Carry out service and project tasks in line with work instructions, quality requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Act as the on-site technical point of contact and work with customers and internal teams.
- Perform on-site service assignments including installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades, replacements, and backup & recovery (or via remote access).
- Troubleshoot technically and develop preventive recommendations to avoid future faults.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute technical service projects with schedule tracking and quality control.
- Prepare materials, spare parts, and tools for service operations.
- Consult on suitable service solutions while considering ABB standards and safety/environmental regulations.
What you'll need
- Completed degree or technician qualification in automation technology or a comparable discipline.
- Initial professional experience as a service/commissioning/planning technician in an industrial environment (career starters welcome).
- Good IT skills including Windows operating systems, hardware, network technology, and cybersecurity.
- Ideally initial experience with programming languages and virtual machines.
- Strong advantage: experience with ABB automation platforms (Procontrol P14, Melody, AC 800M) or the 800xA control system.
- Solid knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Fluent German and good English skills (written and spoken).
Details
- Work model: onsite.
- Travel: within the Cottbus, Berlin, Leipzig region (about two days per week, with occasional overnight stays).
- Supports the Process Automation business unit, Division Energy Industries, in the Cottbus region.
