Overview
Installation Engineer (Field Service/Customer Engineer) responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading Applied Materials equipment at customer sites.
What you’ll do
- Install, commission, maintain, and upgrade equipment at customer sites with Senior Customer Engineers.
- Support equipment startup and acceptance to ensure operational readiness.
- Troubleshoot technical issues using digital diagnostic tools and analytics.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
- Diagnose equipment performance issues and implement solutions with support from senior team members.
- Maintain safety/quality/operational compliance in customer manufacturing environments and document work.
- Coordinate and communicate with customers to support smooth operations.
What you’ll need
- 1–4 years of experience in field service, maintenance, manufacturing support, installation engineering, or a related technical role.
- Associate/bachelor’s/master’s degree (electrical engineering/mechanical engineering/mechatronics) or military technical training/trade certification/equivalent technical experience.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Technical aptitude involving pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems, or thermodynamics.
- Basic proficiency with digital multimeters, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and authorization to live/work in Germany, with ability to travel within Europe.

- Location: Dresden, Germany.
- Travel: up to 75% to customer sites across the region.
- Training: initial six-month onboarding and training phase; potential 12-month international training assignment in Taiwan.
