Field Service Engineer (Field Remote, Edmonton, AB)

Overview

Provides field-based customer support for laboratory and analytical equipment, including installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, validation, repair, and customer training. The role is primarily based in Edmonton and services customers across Western Canada with occasional travel to other regions and the United States.

What you'll do

• Perform equipment installations, maintenance, validations, repairs, and warranty services.
• Troubleshoot and qualify laboratory equipment within prescribed time frames.
• Train customers on system operation and maintenance.
• Understand customer workflows and tailor support, upgrades, and service offerings.
• Identify billable work, consumables, and service leads.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, telecommunications equipment, and service-parts inventory.
• Complete service administration, training, quality reporting, and compliance activities.

What you'll need

• At least 2 years of laboratory and/or field service experience.
• Degree-based candidates need 3 years of laboratory-equipment repair experience; associate-degree candidates need 5 years; high-school candidates need 7+ years.
• Advanced knowledge of analytical equipment, laboratory environments, and/or instrument-control software.
• Strong communication, customer service, technical critical-thinking, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Valid driver's license and authorization for required U.S. travel.
• Ability to work safely around electrical, chemical, radiologic, biologic, and other laboratory hazards.

Nice to have

• Vendor certification on relevant laboratory equipment.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and other business software platforms.
• Experience handling complex technical and interpersonal escalations.
• Experience driving business projects through completion.

• Location: Edmonton, Alberta; servicing Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Yukon.
• Work mode: Remote field role.
• Employment type: Full-time.
• Travel may include Ontario, Quebec, other eastern regions, the United States, and occasional weekends or holidays.
• Annual compensation: CAD $60,000–$80,000.
