HVDC & FACTS Field Service Engineer

Overview

Deliver technical support, service contract ownership, site coordination, and commissioning for FACTS and HVDC power-electronics systems. The role is fully remote in the UK but requires extensive travel to project sites.

What you'll do

• Lead maintenance, onsite interventions, and technical support for FACTS and HVDC transmission systems.
• Coordinate site preparations with customers and internal teams.
• Commission FACTS and HVDC equipment through energisation and handover.
• Own the technical scope of multi-year service contracts.
• Lead customer meetings and identify technical solutions.
• Support FACTS renovation and upgrade projects.
• Provide technical input to tendering activities.

What you'll need

• Engineering degree or equivalent house-engineer experience in power electronics.
• Hands-on experience with drives, FACTS, or HVDC systems.
• Site experience with switching equipment, harmonic filters, instrumentation transformers, and protection-relay commissioning.
• Practical knowledge of thyristor- and IGBT-based FACTS technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot using network recorders, analysers, and log or curve analysis.
• Experience leading onsite teams during service or commissioning activities.
• Strong EHS awareness and customer-facing communication skills.
