Field Service Engineer

Overview

Provide field service engineering support for the development, deployment, testing, sustainment, and quality assurance of complex telecommunications systems.

What you'll do

• Conduct site surveys and develop implementation plans, power requirements, and cost estimates.
• Install, de-install, upgrade, configure, test, and troubleshoot network components.
• Coordinate installation, cutover, activation, and deactivation activities with stakeholders and carriers.
• Prepare site survey reports, site engineering solutions, drawings, bills of materials, and test documentation.
• Perform quality control, installation test and acceptance, and validation activities.
• Provide technical support to customers and service professionals.
• Travel extensively, including short-notice travel and work outside Monday–Friday hours.

What you'll need

• Active Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or master's degree with 2–6 years.
• Experience with telecommunications surveys, installations, cable termination, testing, and documentation.
• Experience installing and configuring Ciena equipment and DC power systems.
• Knowledge of Ciena 6500, 5160, 5171, and ancillary equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Visio.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding installation work.

Nice to have

• DoD IAT Level II certification or higher, such as CompTIA Security+ CE.
• ITIL v3 Foundation certification.
• BICSI certification.
• Field Service Engineering experience.
• Ciena certification.

• Location: United States; remote/teleworker designation.
• Travel and work outside Monday–Friday hours may be required.
