Financial Crime Agile Testing Team Lead

Overview

Lead a financial crime agile testing team within Barclays' second line, providing expert oversight and check and challenge to evidence compliance with legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities, and build an agile testing capability from the ground up.

What you'll do

• Identify and assess compliance risks through reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing and systems.
• Identify and investigate potential market abuse, including Insider Dealing, Unlawful Disclosure, Market Manipulation or Anti-Competitive Conduct.
• Conduct investigations of compliance risk events or breaches.
• Provide oversight and check and challenge of corrective actions and preventative measures to avoid future occurrences.
• Implement compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements, ensuring internal policies are aligned with international standards and jurisdictional requirements.
• Collaborate with 1LOD, other relevant Compliance teams, legal, and risk management functions for a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management.
• Identify, investigate and oversee potential money laundering, terrorist financing or other financial crime.
• Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change.
• Plan resources, budgets and policies; manage and maintain policies and processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies or procedures.
• Lead and manage the team: define jobs and responsibilities, plan for future needs, counsel employees on performance, and contribute to employee pay decisions.
• Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional impact and alignment.
• Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, supporting the control and governance agenda.
• Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls relating to the team's work.
• Apply sophisticated analytical thought and in-depth interpretative analysis to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
• Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, using influencing and negotiating skills.
• Drive testing strategy, influence senior stakeholders, and apply a consultancy-style mindset to delivery, communication and continuous improvement.

What you'll need

• Experience in Financial Crime Assurance or Control Testing within a 2nd line function, including understanding of investigative processes and control or hypothesis testing.
• Strong risk and control mindset, with the ability to identify, assess, test and challenge compliance and financial crime risks across business activities, processes, systems and controls.
• Line management and project management experience, including leading teams, managing day-to-day delivery, developing colleagues and driving performance against priorities.

Nice to have

• Stakeholder management experience, with the ability to engage, influence and provide check and challenge to senior stakeholders across Compliance, 1LOD and risk management functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to produce clear testing outputs, senior-level materials, memos and communications.
• Experience in advisory or consulting roles, agile delivery, and use of case management systems (such as Salesforce) to support testing, oversight and continuous improvement.
