Overview
Build sophisticated solutions for the property and casualty insurance industry as a Software Engineer working across the entire technology stack, from the core persistence layer through Web Application front ends. What you'll do
- Build sophisticated solutions for the property and casualty insurance industry's complex business domain.
- Work across the entire technology stack, from the core persistence layer through to Web Application front ends.
- Design and write code hands-on.
- Work collaboratively in an empowered, small, cross-functional team.
- Work in an agile and fast-paced development environment, including TDD, BDD, Agile and pair programming.
- Demonstrate code quality through thorough testing.
- Communicate effectively, speak your mind and defend ideas based on merit.
- Learn quickly and constantly improve in a dynamic environment.
What you'll need
- 2-4 years of experience in enterprise software development.
- Proficiency in Core Java.
- Solid understanding of JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS.
- Familiarity with Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration and Unit/Integration Testing.
- Object-Oriented Design using SOLID and Hexagonal design principles.
- Experience building secure software and knowledge of security practices.
- Experience working with Open-Source frameworks such as Spring, Jersey and Drools.
- Understanding of relational database persistence such as MySQL and Oracle.
- Agile development practices.
- Experience with REST or gRPC based APIs.
- Cloud Services such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
- A Computer Science degree or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently while working alongside colleagues in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, comfort level to speak your mind and defend ideas based on merit, and humility and hunger to learn from others.
Nice to have
- Experience with a market-leading client-side framework such as React or Angular.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or CouchDB.
